The Collarette part 2.

The position is determined by the relative size of the collarette compared to the pupil and radius of the iris. This is an important feature to consider since it relates to both intestinal capacity and our personality.

There are three possibilities: balanced (ideal), constricted and atonic.

Balanced

A balanced collarette would lay approximately 25% - 30% of the distance between the pupil border and the ciliary border and would be slightly oval in shape.

Significance: A balanced collarette indicates inherently efficient digestion and elimination. This doesn’t mean that such a person could not experience disorders of the digestive system. In order to maintain the good elements we inherit, we must observe the principles of a healthy diet and lifestyle. A low intake of animal fat, with at least seven serves of fruit and vegetables daily is ideal. It is important to consider hydration.

Character: This collarette is often found in one who is emotionally well balanced, neither

overly reactive nor unresponsive. Such a temperament is ideal for the digestive system.

Constricted

Iris Sign: When the collarette is constricted, we have a person who has limited digestive and absorptive capabilities. They are ideally suited to small, frequent meals containing high quality ingredients. It is essential that they avoid eating refined, nutrient deficient foods. This type is easily over excited, which will produce over contraction of the digestive tract - particularly the sphincter muscles. This can produce gut tension and indigestion leading to constipation with an inability to let go. For this reason, it is inadvisable to eat when feeling anxious. Avoid eating when watching the news.

Significance: Overeating is their pathway to illness. This can be a challenge to parents of children with this sign since they reach satiety easily. Avoid offering snacks close to mealtimes.

Character: The constricted collarette is also a sign asocaited with introversion. You may find it hard to tell them what you need to know in order to help them. They can be independent, observant, discreet and fond of their own company. Good confidantes, but can be burdened by too much info.

Atonic

Iris Sign: Gross distension of the collarette into the ciliary zone.

Significance: Can indicate a large intestinal capacity with a disposition to reduced tone and function. Check fibre density! Loose structure can mean reduced peristalsis and increased transit time. Sluggish motility can lead to accumulation of waste. Abdominal distension and bloating are common when the fibre texture between the pupil border and the collarette is open. This increases the likelihood of flatulence. Absorption of nutrients will also be affected. Ensure adequate dietary fibre and hydration.

Character: The sign of an extrovert, they are familial, gregarious, and animated. Primarily social, generous and approachable. They love company of others.
