Meet Toni Miller
Toni Miller is Australia’s most experienced Iridology educator, teaching Iridology since 1983 and bringing more than four decades of clinical experience to her students.
Her teaching goes beyond theory. Decades of clinical observation, research and education enable Toni to explain complex concepts clearly, answer the questions that arise in practice, and help students develop a deeper understanding of the individual behind the iris.
This was taken at my first class with Dr Bernard Jensen in 1984. He was a most generous teacher, sharing everything he knew with all of his students.
Dr Jensen and I were firm friends and he was my mentor till he died in 2001.

Where the journey began
Toni Miller’s introduction to Iridology began at the age of twenty-one, when she accompanied a friend to a consultation with one of Australia’s early Iridology practitioners. Fascinated by the assessment and the subsequent improvement in her friend’s health, Toni’s interest in Iridology was sparked.
Her journey into natural health became much more personal several years later.
Toni married Rex in 1974 and together they raised five children. In 1980, their three-year-old son Jordan developed a life-threatening case of pneumonia as a complication of asthma. Despite hospitalisation, his condition was serious and his parents were given an unfavourable prognosis for his future health.
Searching for additional ways to support him, Toni and Rex were introduced to herbal medicine. Jordan subsequently recovered and, contrary to those early expectations, went on to enjoy an active childhood and become an accomplished athlete.
The experience profoundly influenced Toni and Rex and began their formal journey into natural health education. They went on to graduate in Naturopathy and Medical Herbalism.

From practitioner to educator
Toni’s clinical Iridology experience began in 1981 following her graduation from Southern Cross Herbal College.
Her Iridology education continued throughout her professional career. She studied with Dr Bernard Jensen in 1984 and taught his method for Southern Cross Herbal College from 1983 until 1988.

In 1988, Toni undertook advanced studies in the Angerer philosophies with Robert Lucy in Australia. She discovered that the European approach to Iridology differed considerably from the American model she had previously studied.

Her teacher believed it would be impossible to combine the two systems.
Toni saw that as a challenge.
​
Rather than choosing one approach over the other, she began using both charts and both viewpoints with her clients. What followed was almost a decade of observation and comparison.
Instead of finding the two approaches incompatible, Toni found value in each. The Jensen system provided concepts that were readily understood by clients, while the European approach offered greater complexity in the interpretation of iris signs and placed additional emphasis on the significance of the pupil and sclera.
This period of questioning, comparing and observing would eventually become an important foundation for Integrated Iridology®.

A new approach begins to emerge
While teaching for Southern Cross Herbal College, Toni wrote the first Iridology course to be granted diploma status by the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. She continued as the college’s Iridology instructor until 1996.
Her education did not stop with the classroom. Toni continued studying different approaches to Iridology and attended international conferences to broaden her understanding of the field.

She became lifelong friends with Ellen Tart Jensen in 1997 and was introduced to new perspectives that expanded her thinking beyond purely physical interpretations of the iris.
​
Further studies with Dorothy Hall and Daniele Lo Rito contributed to her exploration of the emotional and mental associations attributed to physical iris signs.

The pieces were beginning to come together.

Integrated Iridology® is born
In 1997, Integrated Iridology® was born.
​
After almost ten years of working with two different Iridology charts and comparing two different schools of thought, Toni brought those perspectives together to produce the Integrated Iridology chart — the world’s first hybrid Iridology chart.
​
The same year marked another important milestone when Toni founded the College of I.R.I.S., creating a college dedicated specifically to Iridology education.
1998 also saw the release of additional charts covering Pupil Signs and the Sclera, together with The Iridologist — a comprehensive Iridology data software program.
These were followed by further charts, educational software programs, flash cards and teaching resources designed to help students and practitioners understand and apply Iridology more effectively.

Continuing to question, research and teach
Integrated Iridology® did not stop evolving in 1998.
Decades of clinical observation, teaching and continued study have allowed Toni to question traditional concepts, refine her understanding and revise teachings where clinical experience and emerging research indicated that change was necessary.
That willingness to question has become one of the foundations of Integrated Iridology®:

Respect the pioneers. Understand the foundations. But never stop asking whether what we teach remains supported by what we observe and learn.

Toni has lectured nationally and internationally and has devoted more than four decades to helping students and practitioners develop a deeper and more individualized understanding of Iridology.
Her work ultimately led to the publication of the Integrated Iridology® Textbook, first published in 2008 and substantially revised in 2016, together with her second textbook, the Mind Matters – Emotional Aspects of Integrated Iridology and an extensive range of professional educational resources.
Today, through Iridologyonline.com, Toni continues to teach students and practitioners around the world.
Her philosophy remains the same:
